Dr Vern Madden - Director - Doctor M.B.,B.S

Graduated from the University of Queensland, St Lucia in 1979. Worked for four years at the Toowoomba Base Hospital before taking time to work in an Indian Charity Hospital, the Tibet & Delek Welfare Hospital, Dharamsala. India. Returning to Australia in 1985 to work in country Queensland as a General Practitioner and Medical Superintendent of the Tara Hospital. He returned to Toowoomba in 1996 to work as a GP before founding The Health Advantage in 2001.

His particular medical interests are in rehabilitation of injured workers, particularly those with chronic pain conditions and employing education in the areas of manual handling, drug & alcohol and ergonomics to reduce the injury rate within the work place.

His hobbies outside of medicine are collecting china, in particular Carlton Ware. He has two sea containers in his back yard as a testament to the extent of his hobby.

Garry Jackson B. Ed., Dip. T., Dip. Train & Assess., WHSO., JP(Qual).

Garry is well qualified to conduct training in the Drug & Alcohol Course, having just completed his Diploma in Training and Assessment. With his many years of teaching Science and Maths to high school students, Garry is of the right stuff to help others understand the vagaries attached to this area.

Anita Scott - Practice Manager

 

Anita has been working for THA since February 2005. She started at Reception and recently changed positions within the company. When working in Reception she also, along with all other reception staff, performed the testing that is involved with Pre-Employment and Coalboard Medicals. Anita obtained her qualification for Alcohol and Drug Monitoring in the Workplace in March 2008 and this is displayed above the reception desk in the office.

She recently obtained her Certificate IV in Practice Management and officially became Practice Manager in August 2008.

Christine "George" Hardaker - Support Staff

Christine has been employed with THA since May 2006. She performs the testing that is involved with Pre-Employment and Coalboard medicals before the client sees the Doctor. These tests can include Vision testing, Audiometries, Spirometries, Echocardiograms, Urine Drug Testing and Alcohol testing. She obtained her qualification for Alcohol and Drug Monitoring in the Workplace in March 2008 and this is displayed above the reception desk in the office.

Anita assists Dr Madden with Q-Fever skin tests and injections, Flu vaccinations and minor operations.

Currently she is studying for a Diploma of Nursing through TAFE

Amelia "Millie" Kluck - Support Staff

Amelia started with THA in March 2008. She is trained to perform the testing involved with Pre-Employment and Coalboard medicals before the client sees the Doctor. Debbie Mahey - Support Staff

I am relevantly new to The Health Advantage starting in July 2008. Previously to The Health Advantage I was in Western Australia working as an Audiometric Officer. I have been trained within The Health Advantage to perform the testing that is involved in Pre-Employment and Coalboard Medicals. I have obtained my Statement of Attainment for a Course in Alcohol and Drug Monitoring in the Workplace on the 31st July 2008.
