Pre Employment Medicals

Pre Employment Medical Testing Services

For employers, injuring a person on the job is very expensive. For this reason employers will have policies and procedures in place to make sure that the work is performed safely. But what about those people who have pre-existing conditions, where in spite of all appropriate policies and procedures the employee is at risk of injuring themselves or are not able to carry out the genuine occupational requirements of the job? How will you know before they start work, they are suitable?

A pre-employment medical exam addresses this issue. A candidate's suitability for a job is based on their current ability to perform the occupational requirements of the job and also on their future risk of incurring an injury performing that job or injuring others. To give examples regarding suitability in both of these situations, a person may not have the current ability to perform the heavy lifts required in a manual laboring job, for instance an inability to lift a twenty kilogram bag of cement, simply because they are not strong enough to do so. Alternatively they may have a current ability to perform those lifts but because of a pre-existing condition such as arthritis in their low back they will be at high risk of injuring themselves in that position performing those duties. Thus a pre-employment medical is an important tool available to the employer to ensure the candidate has an ability to perform the genuine occupational requirements of the job and perform them without a risk of injury to themselves or others. The Health Advantage provides a choice of pre-employment medicals you can use. We have an in house system or if you already have your own system we can use your system. We can even design a system specific to your needs.
