Australian Abattoir & Meat Works

The Department of Water Resources has a very important part to play in Australia's export success for agricultural products. An integral part of this process is ensuring that all agricultural products which are exported from Australia are disease free. In order to ensure this, when it comes to meat products, then those people working with meat are required to undertake a medical examination to ensure they are free from diseases that might be transmitted to other people via meat. This medical examination is only a small part of the process as it only gives you a snapshot of the health of the meatworker at a particular point in time when they commence work. Most importantly meatworkers have to know and understand their role in this process is to be aware of the signs and symptoms of illnesses that they may have that can be transmitted to others via the meat. In this way they become part of an ongoing process of self review of their health status to ensure they are safe to work with meat and meat products. This video educates the meatworker on the important aspects of the health review. The video teaches what the diseases are that can be transmitted to others via meat products and what signs and symptoms the meatworker needs to be aware of in order to identify these illnesses in themselves and thus prevent the transmission of disease via meat product.
